NEAR at Stafford Speedway on Friday, June 7th, 2019
The New England Antique Racers appeared at the Stafford Motor Speedway on Friday, June 7th, 2019. It was deemed “Kids Night” at the popular oval, and there were many child oriented activities planned for the evening. A Big Wheels race on track, bounce houses and NEAR Race Cars on the midway, and a kids Bike Raffle to top it all off. The lucky winner of the bike only bought one ticket!!! Stafford management also donated a beautiful NAPA tractor trailer truck and a Chase Elliot collectible race car. Pronyne Museum donated a couple NEAR t shirts to the tally, as well! All in all, a great time was had by everyone in attendance.
The Bill Kemp #199 Camaro was very popular with the youngsters, as many took the opportunity to sit in a race car for the very first time. The #088 of Angie Bullock was also very popular with the fans!
The NEAR Hall of Fame Museum was also on site, with many fans checking out the plaques inside that honor the legends of New England racing history.
George and Candy Cleveland brought out the Cleveland Farms #5, and Ric Mariscal brought the Pronyne Museum’s Checkered Flag Announcer #26 Gremlin. This car belonged to the infamous Paul Tremaine, a fixture at N.E. tracks in the 60’s and 70’s.
Also on hand was the beautiful #716 Checkerboard square car and the #19 Moose Hewitt Pinto owned by Tom and Eileen Maciag. Thanks to all our members that brought cars, and Bruce Nichols as well, for coming along to assist in the evening’s activities!!
