Norwood Arena's last Modified champion (1969), the Mansfield, MA, native raced for 30-plus
years. He was a frequent winner on the rough-and-tough 1950s Cutdown circuit, many coming in the Rufo 53. He also was successful in the Susi 14.
With the advent of NASCAR, he continued to win with Susi and the Dickie Mills/Billy Welch79. The Norwood title came in the employ of Dick Armstrong. He had several successful seasons with the Dunn T-5, posting five wins enroute to the 1978 Westboro Championship. He passed away in 1999.
