Long Island Racers and Cars Sought
May 16, 2014

On August 16, 2014 Riverhead Raceway will be conducting a Long Island Auto Racing Hall of Fame Induction. To help celebrate this event the track is seeking vintage race cars that competed at the following tracks located on the island: Freeport, Islip, West Hampton and, of course, Riverhead.

Track time will be two (2) practice sessions of twenty (20) laps each for the cars. Current series drivers will be there who would be willing to take the cars out for some laps. There is the possibility of racing, IF enough people want to run their cars in competition (reminder - competitive racing with either old drivers or present tour drivers for cash and trophies makes this a NON-NEAR event).

They are seeking vintage tour modifieds, late models and midgets that were run when Long Island was a hot bed of racing. The car owner and the driver will be allowed in for free.

A special request is being made for cars run by Geoff Bodine, Bugs Stevens, Bill Greco, Richie Evans and the other "greats" who made the trip to be part of the big shows.

There will be tow money available to help defray the cost.

They also desire the drivers, who ran these cars, to participate in the celebration; SO if you raced here, and can make it, please partake in this event.

Sign in time is Noon on August 16, 2014, Riverhead Raceway, Route 58, Riverhead, NY.

Call Kevin Bacik at (631) 592-2995 for more details and/or to let them know you are participating.
